Directions

Perhaps you feel like me that this new century
embarks us upon a crucial adventure. Is this age going to present us with technical
and social freedom, as promised, or will the forces of repression succeed with
the spreading of disease and ill will? The directions we take are now crucial,
perhaps a choice between life and death for our civilization. Are we going to
live or are we going to die? That is the question.
The political system, our constitution, framed by people that suffered from
government repression, authored our form of government to protect our liberties.
Now, the current president and his administration have profoundly threatened
us. In the past, the congress has protected the people from executive abuse,
but this congress has surrendered its powers to the president, a president that
like acts a Caesar, taking any action at a whim to advance his war on terrorism.
This war on terrorism is an illegal war, unconstitutional because the congress
has not elected for a declaration of war. Our president, taking office under
questionable circumstances, even now searches for more innovative methods to
destroy the constitution and our bill of rights.
I personally believe that the enemies our government have encountered resulted
from failed political policies. Very few people, especially the mainstream media,
have asked why the attacks on September 11 occurred. Certainly, our government
has rendered itself as incompetent by not preventing this tragedy. Can you really
trust the present government to solve this problem?
No, the problems have become worse. More people are dying everywhere because
of the abuse of this illegal war. Economies are shredding. Our way of life has
been attacked and deteriorating.
I think that our enemies knew that the Bush administration would act militarily,
using police state measures. Our so called enemies can win their war without
firing a shot, just by tormenting us with more people willing to agitate by
surrendering their lives. Our present government's answer is to retaliate, making
the cause of the terrorists stronger, especially to themselves. They can well
win their war against us by launching agitation within the Arab countries that
now claim to be our friends. Ultimately, these governments will fall or be forced
to choose sides, for us or against us. This is the road the Bush administration
is leading us down from the very beginning when Mr. Bush proclaimed, "you
are either with us or against us."
What we will get from the policies of the Bush administration and our present
congress will be a crumbling from within of our values, our economy and our
way of life. You can bet this will have a similar result in such countries like
Israel and Palestine, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Indonesia and other
regions populated by Muslims.
I know you may not want to vote, perhaps with good reason. But, think of this.
Voting is the only way of making change without the use of force or violence.
Please vote and vote Libertarian. Are going to enjoy the blessings of liberty
and the joys of free enterprise or allow ourselves to be sunk even more deeply
in an ever deepening well of repression?
